Internet Ping Test – Packet Loss, Latency and Jitter Analysis

WebRTC Packet Loss & Ping Test tool has a much more advanced structure than classic ping tests. It was developed in 2025 to measure users' internet connection quality most accurately. Unlike the classic ping command, this system uses WebRTC DataChannel technology to establish a direct connection over UDP and makes detailed measurements: ping time (RTT), jitter and packet loss.

What Does This Site Do? (Real-Time Ping Test)

This site sends real-time pings to the server through your browser:

  • Measures your ping time (latency) in milliseconds
  • Reveals your packet loss rate
  • Determines your jitter value (fluctuating latency)
  • Analyzes your internet connection's suitability for applications like gaming, video conferencing and streaming

How Does It Work?

Unlike classic ICMP ping methods, this system sends UDP packets over WebRTC data channel. Each sent packet is timestamped and from the returned responses RTT (Round Trip Time) and jitter are calculated. Signalization is performed via WebSocket infrastructure. At the end of the test, upload/download packet losses occurring on both client and server are analyzed.

Why Is Ping Test Important?

Ping value shows how quickly your internet connection responds. Especially in applications requiring instant data like online games, live streams and remote work, low ping is critically important. With this test, not only is your ping measured; its fluctuation (jitter) and stability are also analyzed.

About Data Accuracy

This test tool was developed to simulate real-world internet conditions as closely as possible. Using WebRTC technology, direct data transmission is provided over UDP and thus network performance metrics such as ping (RTT), packet loss and jitter are measured.

However, the test runs in a browser and results can be affected by variables such as device used, background applications, browser engine, network congestion and server distance.

This test helps you technically understand the instantaneous performance in your system or ISP infrastructure, but does not reflect all network traffic with 100% certainty.

If professional diagnosis or SLA evaluation is to be made, it is recommended to evaluate with more comprehensive and different measurement methods in addition to this test.

What Causes Packet Loss?

Packet loss on the internet is when data packets sent are lost on the network before reaching their destination. This can cause delays, interruptions and decreased connection quality.

Here are the most common packet loss causes:

  • Overloaded Network: Network traffic can become congested during peak hours or with insufficient bandwidth.
  • Inadequate Hardware: Low performance of devices like modem, router or network card can make them unable to process packets.
  • Wi-Fi Interference: In wireless connections, other devices, walls or factors like microwave can disrupt the signal.
  • ISP (Service Provider) Issues: Physical problems or routing errors in infrastructure.
  • QoS Settings or Firewall: Misconfigured firewalls or quality of service limitations.
  • Server Resource Constraints: If the server being tested is under load, it may not be able to process incoming data.
  • WebSocket or WebRTC Limits: Browser or network protocol limitations, especially during very fast data transmission, can cause problems.

If packet loss is detected, first physical connections on the network should be checked, then the router/modem should be restarted and wired connection should be preferred if possible. For ongoing issues, contacting the ISP is recommended.
